Screen Saver Settings

The MyPaintShow screen saver Settings dialog box, (see Getting to Your Screen Saver Settings) allows you to modify the behavior of your MyPaintShow screen saver.

There are a number of different controls available to create a custom screen saving experience.

Let's begin by listing these controls and explaining their affects on your MyPaintShow screen saver.

We'll start from the top.

Select MyPaintShow Show Files Folder

This section is where you specify the folder where you want
MyPaintShow to look for your MyPaintShow Show files. These are the files that play in the screensaver. You either create these files with the MyPaintShow Editor, or you can download them. When you first install MyPaintShow, a few MyPaintShow Show files are installed in the "Shared Documents" folder for you. The default setting of this section is the MyPaintShow folder in the "Shared Documents" folder. Usually C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\MyPaintShow.

You can change this setting by typing in a new path in the edit window, or you can press the "Browse For Folder" button.

Pause Seconds is the number of seconds your
MyPaintShow Show file remains on the screen after it has been drawn. This can be from 0 to 60 seconds.

Select MyPaintShow Character Files Folder

This section is where you specify the folder where you want
MyPaintShow to look for your Character files. These are the .bmp files that MyPaintShow uses as the character or artist who paints your art work onto your screen. When you first install MyPaintShow, a few MyPaintShow Characters are installed in the "Shared Documents" folder for you.

Additionally,
MyPaintShow is fully stocked with its own built in characters. You can select which ones you want, or turn them completely off by pressing the "Built in Characters" button. However, if you haven't specified a folder that contains any .bmp files, MyPaintShow will randomly pick a built in character regardless of your settings.

Select Playback Speed

This section is where you set the playback speed. You are presented with three options, Automatic, Manual and Random.

Automatic:
MyPaintShow will base its playback speed on the overall length of time it takes to play a show. The longer Show files will play faster than the shorter ones. You can use the slider to influence this speed.

Manual: Using the slider, you may specify the speed you like.

Random: Just as its name implies, this will randomly pick a playback speed for each show. You can use the slider to influence this speed.

Compatibility Warnings

This section is where you choose to show compatibility warnings or to disable the showing of these warnings. This is an old feature that is no longer important, so you can pretty much forget about it.

Pressing the "OK" button will record your settings and the next time MyPaintShow screen saver starts, it will use the settings you selected. Each user/login can have his or her own settings.

Pressing the "Cancel" button will cancel all the changes you've made in the settings dialog.

Pressing the "About" button will display the version number of your copy of MyPaintShow .

Pressing the "Help" button will instruct your favorite browser to display this help documentation.
